EPISODE 7, SCENE 1
IT WAS A PERFECT MORNING IN LATE JANUARY, clear and not too cold. An overnight flurry had deposited three inches of new snow in town. Luanne didn't have a story due today, so she hooked up with two friends, Lisa Werner and Barclay Daranyi, and headed up the mountain.

They were riding lift nine near the intersection of Bushwacker and the Plunge when Luanne saw the sign. In fact, everyone on the chairlift saw the sign. It was a big red heart with Luanne's name in the center. It was being held aloft by the ever-hopeful romantic Eric "Money" Banks.

"Oh God, I don't believe this!" an embarrassed Luanne shrieked, as Lisa and Barclay dissolved in laughter. "The boy must be in love," Lisa giggled. "He's dreaming," Luanne muttered.

"I wish Tony would do that for me," said Barclay, referring to her husband, who only got misty-eyed watching the Dallas Cowboys.

Eric knew he needed something dramatic to get Luanne off the slimeball Starbuck and back in the Money. He'd been stationed with his sign under the lift since it opened this morning. Female skiers riding overhead blew kisses and called out encouragement. A couple of his boarder pals like Nicky thought Money was wussing out to declare himself so openly, but they didn't know Luanne like he did (especially New Year's Eve!).

Then Eric saw Luanne on the chair. He held his sign higher and waved. She glared down at him, definitely not amused. Huh? Eric felt the flop sweat of a major face plant coming on. True love travels on a rocky run.
