EPISODE 8, SCENE 3
At the Clifftop construction site, foreman Bob Crix faced Jordan Thorne and quit. "You've got all these new people showing up on the site, Jordan," Crix said. "They don't know shit about winter construction and they're making all these tough guy threats. Life's too short."

"You can't leave now, Bob," Thorne pleaded. "I need you!"

"You're right about that," Crix retorted. "I wouldn't count on the crew taking orders from these Kansas City creeps. Get rid of them and I'll finish the job." Thorne let out a long breath. Up against the wall. Goddamn Aldente, Thorne thought. Who were these people he was bringing in? "I can't get rid of them, Bob," he finally said. "They own part of the project." Crix nodded unhappily. He knew something of Thorne's fiscal highwire act but, finally, it wasn't his concern.

"I'm sorry, Jordan. I can't work under these conditions. Tools are disappearing. Petty cash. I'm not pointing fingers, understand. You know I like you, but it's me or them, and it doesn't sound like you have a choice." Thorne didn't. He shook Bob Crix's hand and watched him walk off. Clifftop, his troubled dream, was becoming a nightmare.
