Thomas Alta
Roudebush
Hay! I'm Thomas Alta Roudebush - AKA Roudy to friends, enemies, and acquaintances alike. I embarked on this planet in Cancer of 1947 in Richland county in southwest Wisconsin. Our family farm raised Guernsey cows, Black Angus steers, multitudes of colorful pigs, chickens, geese, ducks, dogs and kids in profusion. After eight years of parochial school and three years in a Catholic Seminary I had lost interest in organized religion and went off to college for a few years - graduating in '69 with degrees in English, Journalism, History, and Marketing. I began helping inhabit Telluride in 1970, which was like college, but without the classes. Thus, both the 60's and 70's are a pleasant blur to me. I began taking dudes on horseback rides in 1973 and have managed to remain impoverished by taking better care of my horses than myself ever since. I often wonder aloud to my customers, "What the hell do people do who don't ski or ride horses?" My cowboy friends say my primary occupation is riding my horse into the Sheridan Bar. While I admit I spend some of my leisure time there, it's hardly my sole source of entertainment. For a poor cowboy, I'm well published. I'm in commercials, on book covers, and in fashion magazines. Most of this work is because my horse, Cindy, is a ham. It isn't me. If you know my character, Summit Man, on Avalanche - you understand that this is blatant type-casting. His musings are very much mine as well. I've enjoyed working on it and thank you all for tuning in. I keep saying that it's RADIO with pictures. We've come a long way. Roudy |
