EPISODE
4, SCENE 5
Richard Starbuck brought Jordan Thorne over to meet Anthony and Tina Aldente. "Tony represents an investment group in Kansas City," Richard said. "I told him, if you're looking for property in Telluride, Jordan's the man to see." Thorne smiled and sized up the Aldentes. "How're you enjoying Telluride?" Tina shrugged. "The shopping's kinda thin, but I love the spa." "Richard told me about this new Clifftop project," Aldente said. "Is it already sold out?" "It's close," Thorne lied confidently, "but I'm still looking for a little bridge financing to handle cost overruns." Actually Thorne was looking for a miracle. He'd seen the latest disappointing timeshare projections and was only days away from missing a loan payment for the first time in his career. Thorne was living on fumes, but you'd never know by watching him work Aldente. "I've been developing property in this area for twenty years," Thorne continued, "and Clifftop is the first project I've put my own money into. It's that special." Aldente shrugged. If he's interested, Jordan thought, he's not showing it. That was good. It meant he could be real. "Lemme see the numbers," Aldente said. "Sure thing," Jordan replied. "I'll call you tomorrow. Maybe we can watch some Bowl games together." Aldente cracked his first smile of the evening. Forget the skiing. Ditch Tina at the spa and hang out with the realty boys watching ball. "Sounds good," he said. |
