EPISODE 7, SCENE
4 Richard Starbuck led Luanne over to a corner table at La Marmotte. The candles were already lit. Luanne had initially refused his dinner invitation, claiming "twice burned" status, but Starbuck was penitent and persuasive, and she was curious about his latest melee with supermodel Shauna, the one that cost Luanne her glorious New Year's Eve. "She never wanted to get back together," Richard said as the waiter poured their wine. "It was all a scam about getting a photo op for her new perfume line. Selfish, it's gonna be called. Shauna missed the irony." Luanne laughed. "Anyway," Richard went on, "She'd sold Revlon on this whole 'happy mountain family' idea to promote the line, and she needed me and Brawley to fill out the picture." "And you got bent outta shape about the baby being in the picture?" Luanne said. "Exactly," Richard nodded. "It won't happen again, Lou. Shauna and I are nevermore. I'm only sorry it messed things up between you and me. We were just getting started." Luanne softened. She couldn't help it. She liked this guy who made her crazy. "Think you can give me another chance?" he asked. "Not sure, Starbuck," Luanne replied. "You're kinda slippery." "You're right, I am," he smiled. "And I can't get away with it anymore. One more fabulous screwup and I'll have to leave town." Luanne laughed. "Yeah, sure." "So," he asked, "another chance?" "Yeah, sure." |
