EPISODE 5, SCENE 5
Sitting in his office, Jordan Thorne listened with mounting anger as the president of the Denver Bank addressed him in an infuriatingly soothing voice. "I didn't say never, Jordan." Supercilious prick, Thorne thought. "But you can't keep extending these loans. We aren't seeing the projected sales on the timeshare program as you outlined it to us."

"I told you guys from day one," Thorne cut in, "the timeshares didn't have to sell out for construction to be finished."

"But they're not close to selling out!" Thorne paused, took a breath. He hated talking to banks. They had no vision. They saw only numbers, and the numbers were against him. "You never should've broken ground last month, Jordan" the bank prez continued. "We warned you about the cost overruns that come with winter construction and now they're biting you in the ass..."

"We have a damn good crew," Jordan shot back, "and the work is getting done. Come down here and see."

"We'll be sending someone," the man said. "But I think you should start looking for another equity partner for Clifftop."

"You're pulling out?" Thorne was stunned. "You can't do that! We have a deal. My equipment is up there!"

"The way the project is being handled, Jordan, we're beginning to lose faith in it."

"Goddamn, you guys were worthless," Thorne said, and slammed down the phone. Then he picked it up and slammed it down again, just to make sure the bastard heard it.

In her office, Kelly jumped at the crack of Thorne's telephone. Her boss suddenly didn't sound so magical.
