Shauna came up to Richard as he was feeding Brawley in the kitchen. She stood in front of him expectantly, saying nothing. Starbuck finally turned. "How do yo like it?" she asked. "Like what?" He had no idea what she was talking about. "My new scent." Shauna arched her neck up to his nose. Richard took a whiff and nodded politely, "Yeah, it's nice." Actually it smelled a bit like Vicks Vaporub, but he knew better than to tell the truth. Shauna wasn't looking for a critical response. "I created it with Revlon,: She informed him. "It's gonna be called Selfish. They're putting together a huge campaign to launch it." "And you'll be the Selfish Girl?" he joked. Shauna was not amused. "It's not about being selfish,: she petulantly explained, "it's about caring for your Self,: Richard nodded and ventured no further. Shauna was going into her New Age babble again, a place he didn't care to visit. "I hope Brawley's not taking a role in the campaign." Starbuck said. Shauna shrugged, neither confirming nor denying. "You know how I feel about that." "I'm not designing the campaign," Shauna replied, as she walked out. Richard turned back to Brawley, his little face smeared with baby food. "Your mom's a maniac," whispered Starbuck, "tell a friend." |
